Project Overview

This residential project featured the installation of natural tight-stack dry stone across both the interior and exterior of a newly constructed home. The goal was to create a cohesive, visually striking connection between indoor and outdoor living spaces.

Materials & Approach

We employed traditional dry-stack stonework techniques, carefully selecting and placing each stone by hand without mortar.

Result

The natural stonework has become a standout feature of the home, bringing timeless character and textural depth to both the interior and alfresco areas. Its earthy tones and organic form beautifully complement the natural surrounds of Tamborine Mountain, creating a seamless connection between the built environment and the landscape.

Large indoor fireplace with brick hearth, ledge, and stone arch opening and large chimney.

Materials & Approach

Our team focused on traditional river stone and stonework techniques while incorporating hidden reinforcement where necessary for structural integrity. Recycled brick was used for the large hearth.

Result

The fireplace serves as a stunning focal point and central gathering space within the impressive wooden barn. The use of recycled brick and river stone ties in seamlessly with other architectural features throughout the sprawling Tamborine Mountain property.

Bespoke Garden Fountain & Alfresco Area – Residential Property

Client: Private Homeowner

Project Type: Raised Garden Bed/Planter Boxes & Crazy Paving Alfresco

Project Overview

This residential project involved the creation of a bespoke garden fountain, raised stone planter boxes, and a crazy-paved alfresco area. The design was focused on enhancing the property's outdoor living space with handcrafted stonework that complements the meticulously landscaped gardens and surrounds.

Materials & Approach

Using a mix of natural stone (including travertine), our team employed traditional masonry techniques to construct the raised garden beds and stonework techniques to clad the garden beds. The alfresco area features hand-laid crazy paving, which complements the fountain.

Result

The finished garden fountain and stonework elements create a tranquil and welcoming outdoor environment. The raised planter boxes add structure and greenery, while the crazy paving creates a functional alfresco space.

Project Overview

This project was built from the ground up – including the excavation, the concrete slab, formwork and brickwork. We also were involved in the design. The client desired a firepit area with a large custom fireplace to enjoy beneath an existing tree on the property.

Materials & Approach

Our team focused on traditional dry-stack techniques with mortar gaps, while incorporating hidden reinforcement where necessary for structural integrity. The crazy paving firepit floor is framed by a curved stone and crazy paving bench. Bricks, stone, and crazy oaviung were used to construct the the fireplace with an arch opening, large chimney and crazy paving ledge.

Result

The fireplace has become a central gathering point, offering rustic warmth and functionality, beneath a large existing tree that can be enjoyed all year round.
